NIRJUTIQARVIK
(Nirjutiqarvik National Wildlife Area)

The Nirjutiqarvik Area Co-Management Committee (Nirjutiqarvik ACMC) oversees the Nirjutiqarvik National Wildlife Area in the Qikiqtaaluk Region.  The Nirjutiqarvik National Wildlife Area (NWA) is located 20 kilometres off the southern tip of Ellesmere Island and includes Coburg Island, Princess Charlotte Monument and all the nearby water within a 10 km radius.  Created in 2012, the Nirjutiqarvik ACMC is comprised of five members from Grise Fiord, and one Canadian Wildlife Service Northern Region (Iqaluit) employee.  The Nirjutiqarvik ACMC is drafting the Management Plan for the NWA and meets 1-2 times per year in Grise Fiord to discuss all issues pertaining to management of, and permitting for access to the Nirjutiqarvik NWA.
