NINGINGANIQ
(Ninginganiq National Wildlife Area)

The Ninginganiq Area Co-Management Committee (Ninginganiq ACMC) oversees the Ninginganiq National Wildlife Area (NWA) in the Qikiqtani Region in Nunavut. Ninginganiq NWA is the largest National Wildlife Area in Canada, encompasses primarily marine habitat, and is an important feeding and resting area for Bowhead Whales and other marine wildlife. The Ninginganiq ACMC was created in 2009 and is made up of five members from Clyde River, NU and one Canadian Wildlife Service Northern Region (Yellowknife) employee.  The Ninginganiq ACMC is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the NWA, including writing the Management Plan for the area and reviewing permits for access to Ninginganiq NWA.  The committee meets 1-2 times per year in Clyde River, NU.
