{Member Biographies}:
{Kitty Taipagak was born on the island called Ongahitak. She was adopted to elders who had lost their children to pneumonia. She was raised out on the land speaking only Inuinnaqtun until she was ready for school and moved to Cambridge Bay and had to learn to speak English. Ms. Taipagak is a member of the Cambridge Bay Community Beneficiary Committee and has been a member of the Canadian Rangers for 11 years. She has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Committee since its creation in 2010.}
{David Evalik grew up trapping and hunting with his parents at Perry River and Flagstaff Island in the Ahiak Migratory Bird Sanctuary. He graduated high school in Yellowknife and worked as a public servant for 34 years in the Kitikmeot. Since he retired, he volunteers on community justice projects, the Housing Association and the Community Beneficiary Committee in Cambridge Bay. Mr. Evalik enjoys looking back on history and wants to help plan for responsible use of the land. He has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Committee since 2015.}
{Simona Akkikungnaq has been an active member of her community for many years. She started as a Community Wellness Coordinator working with the elderly and now works with expectant mothers. She has represented woman at National and regional meetings. Ms. Akkikungnaq has been a member of the Gjoa Haven Community Beneficiary Committee since 1994 and always does her best to help out in the community. She has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Committee since it was created in 2010.}
{Joseph Tikhak Sr. was born and raised in and around Western River by Umingmaktok (Bay Chimo), NU. Mr. Tikhak has been a Kitikmeot Inuit Association Community Beneficiary Committee member for 16 years and is a past member of the Bay Chimo Hunters and Trappers Organization. He has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Commitee since its creation in 2010.}
{Ben Putuguq was born on the land and grew up living a nomadic lifestyle. He started his career as the Hamlet Mechanic in the early 1970s and retired in 2001. Since then he has worked as a mechanic and survey assistant studying fish for Hope Bay Mining. He was a Canadian Ranger for 20 years and now is a member of the Local Elders Committee in Gjoa Haven and was a member of the Gjoa Haven Community Beneficiary Committee. Mr. Putuguq has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Committee since it was created in 2010.}
{Jennie Rausch is a Shorebird Biologist with the Canadian Wildlife Service, Environment Canada in Yellowknife, NT. Ms. Rausch was raised in Yellowknife and has worked seasonally in Nunavut for 18 years. She has worked for Environment and Climate Change Canada since 2000 starting first as a summer student and then full-time since 2005. She has a good understanding of ECCC-CWS policies and procedures, and of the environmental, social and economic conditions that characterize small communities in Nunavut. Ms. Rausch worked in the Ahiak Migratory Bird Sanctuary for two summers and is an expert on arctic breeding shorebirds. She has been on the Ahiak Area Co-Management Committee since it was created in 2010.}
